Obituary for Madeline Catherine "Maddy" Yiengst

Madeline Catherine Yiengst (Maddy) passed away peacefully in her time on March 30, 2019, at Hospice of the Chesapeake at the age of 78 years. Maddy was surrounded by family at her time of passing.

Madeline, also known as Maddy, Mom-Mom, or Pipi, is predeceased by her father Chester C. Landis, her mother Catherine Aulbach Landis, and her youngest brother John Landis. Madeline grew up as a child in York, PA.

Madeline is survived by her loving and devoted husband Jon Peter Yiengst of almost 52 years, and by her two brothers, Dr. Robert Landis and Chester C. Landis, Jr.

Mom-Mom or Pipi is lovingly remembered by her daughters Mary Elizabeth Mason (and son-in-law Richard Mason) of Thornton, Colorado, and Karen Anne Jones-Lantzy (and son-in-law Brien Jones-Lantzy) of Annapolis, Maryland ; and by her grandchildren Turner Jacob Mason, Molly-Anne Jones Lantzy, and Jon Carter Mason who will treasure their grandmother in their hearts forever.

Madeline was born on February 26, 1941, in York, PA. She went to York Catholic High School and was an R.N. after graduating from St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. She was married in 1967, in York, PA. Family was Maddy’s priority, and her husband,children, and home were sacred. Madeline was an exceptional nurse who devoted her later work to children who had intellectual and physical disabilities. Furthermore, she loved her faith, cooking, cleaning, boating, and shopping. Madeline’s grandchildren meant the world to her; they will continue to keep her presence alive in their journeys. Her spirit will be with us forever.

Friends are invited to celebrate Maddy's life on Wednesday, April 3 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Kalas Funeral Home and Crematory, at 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater, MD. Following the visitation, a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12pm at Our Lady of the Fields, 1070 Cecil Ave., Millersville, MD. Interment is private.
