Elizabeth Helen "Betty" DeCesaris, 87, a resident of Davidsonville, MD for 16 years and previously of Lothian, MD, died of Parkinson's Disease on Thursday, September 27 at her home surrounded by her large, loving family. Born on January 26, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA to the late Giuseppe and Rose Procopio, Betty was a wife, mom and grandmom extraordinaire. She earned two Associate Degrees from Prince George's Community College. Among other Catholic churches in the area, she was a former parishioner of Our Lady of Sorrows in Owings, MD and St. Mary of the Assumption in Upper Marlboro, MD and was a current parishioner of Holy Family in Davidsonville, MD. Betty was also a member of the Sons of Italy and enjoyed ceramics, sewing, playing the piano, making cakes for Sonny and reading. But most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family, and her strong faith was unwavering. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Geaton Anthony "Sonny" DeCesaris, Sr.; her sons, Joseph and Geaton DeCesaris, Jr., grandchildren Paul Sukalo Jr., Gary Lee Ryon Jr., Marco DeCesaris Jr. and Maria Evangeline Ailiff and her brothers, Alfonso, Dominic and Hugo Procopio and her sister Esther Conte. Betty is survived by her children, Marco, Joseph and Hugo DeCesaris, Ida Sukalo, Maria Vacaro, Betty Ryon, Lisa Caltabiano and Deborah Ailiff; 34 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, and her siblings, Albert Procopio and Carmela Arcuri.
